Author Topic: I destroyed all the metal parts in my shower by accident.  (Read 1490 times)

Last night I came home drunk and thought it would be a really good idea to clean my shower, I emptied a bottle of limescale remover all over my shower.
Unfortunately, I didn't see the bottle says "not suitable for stainless steel" because of the hydrochloric acid.
Now all the metal parts of the shower are forgeted, below is a photo of the bar that holds the shower head, it looks a lot worse in person which you can't really tell in the photo.

The real problem: I move out in two weeks, they're going to forget me with my deposit if I don't make this look reasonably decent. My apartment is only two years old, and they knew that it wasn't forgeted before I moved out.
Any idea what I can do to restore the stainless steel?

isnt stainless steel made to be, you know, stainless?

Anyways I dont think you can, try cleaning it off somehow, iduno

Wow espio I cant believe I didn't think about that!

They'll be able to replace it for cheaper, but I still don't want to pay to replace it.

then dont reply you dope

I know that stainless steel can naturally corrode when exposed to salty moist air, but I'm not sure if you can really restore it if you've used a powerful chemical like HCl, but I can't imagine why it would be any different. My knowledge on the subject is probably outdated, but I'd recommend an industrial abrasive, you could try brushing it with steel wool pads or a very fine sand paper.

forgetin hell, my lamp exploded today on stream

You forgeted up a property that isn't yours. You should pay out of pocket for it and replacement parts aren't even that expensive. Be a respectable person perhaps?

Rent is a bourgeoisie scam anyway, OP should burn down the entire house then blame it on the owner's faulty oven and sue them
