Author Topic: How bullets don't work.  (Read 9423 times)

I stopped even trying to enjoy Matpat's content after Gaijin Goomba started not shutting the forget up and Game Theory just became FNAF stuff all day erry day even in completely unrelated videos.

forget Gaijin Goomba by the way.

Also:

This right here is my biggest loving pet peeve with videogames, movies, anything that uses firearms. It makes me cringe so loving hard seeing this stuff.

Like this right here, look at this garbage from garry's mod. They put the loving ejection port on the wrong side of the gun. I hope you like shell casings in your face.

In some games that's a stylistic choice; that being able to see the empty casings on your screen as they are ejected from the firearm is proven as being enjoyed by more people than those who don't enjoy it or something similar. IIRC it was done like that for just such a reason in STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl

i thought an unmodified SKS was the only excuse to actually use stripper clips
Pretty much, seeing as it's a pain in the ass to hand load an SKS.

yeah that stuff was when it really started to go downhill.

like that loving goomba's voice was like the equivalent of awful as annoying orange
both are stuffty characters in general and should be erased from existance

I literally just found this thread after watching the video

that stuff annoyed me to no end

a real stalker would enjoy hot brass in his face. weakling.

It helps me remember the pain

I hate how people reload guns after shooting 1 bullet  in videogames with releastic loading that doesn't have bullets magically transfer to the next magazine.

Then they complain when they lost all their bullets and don't know why and this is why we will always have call of duty style reloading.

this is why we will always have call of duty style reloading.
actually it's entirely balance related

if you're designing a game where most of the gameplay revolves around shooting things and running, moving from place to place, etc. the ammo will be designed in a call of duty style magic clip

when you're playing games that have like, survival aspects and pressure the player to think through their steps before they go on and waste a whole clip, then yeah they'll design it receiver style

Or you could play games that aren't stupid and just make you throw away magazines that aren't actually empty instead of putting them back for later in exchange for a full magazine now.
Games like Red Orchestra 2

my problem with GG was the fact that he kept stuffposting, but whenever he received any form of criticism, he would just talk about how "you guys don't understand me! I'm just trying to help and you're all bullies! :((("

a prime example is this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPAKhrhZ3Zg (not really NSFW, but not pleasant either) where he responds to "haters" by creating a cringefest with his girlfriend - what even is this?

on game theory, they just descended into the "conspiracy? theory" mindset

Games where your mags are magically filled with the remaining capacity of the switched out ones aren't exactly in the wrong there. Most games tend to focus on fun, action, and exploration. Limiting your reloads by number of mags kind of hurts that. Could you imagine playing L4D and having to actually like, pick out your gun's appropriate ammo from those oddly placed piles of ammo? Would get old real fast.

What about when people call a Magazine a Clip?

Unturned is actually a perfect example of this. Mags can be swapped whenever and they have as many bullets as were loaded into them, none transferred.

pls
oh forget off magazines and clips are essentially the same loving thing when you look at the mechanics
