Author Topic: Upgrade to Windows 10 or stick with 7?  (Read 8022 times)

The free windows 10 upgrade is going to expire soon so should I upgrade now or never? On one hand windows 10 apparently has some game performance boosts and other things I like. On the other there are apparently some security issues where microsoft can basically spy on you.

The NSA spies on you at all times anyway

If you have Windows 7, most people are gonna say to stick with that

I mean I like Windows 10, but I guess if the privacy issues bother you then don't.
DX12 isn't a big deal either, barely any games support it and even then I haven't noticed a performance gain in games that do .

I'd stay with 7. Windows 10 isnt bad but it's really different and annoying to use.

Upgrade to 10, it's really nice to use and adds a lot of features.

is sticking with 7 even an option for you or will it somehow wake up and update in the middle of the night

Stick with Windows 7. 10 has a myriad of extreme privacy issues on top of the fact that a lot of the time it will just flat out not work at all and forget up your computer.

It shoves advertisements and windows store and other useless features down your throat, doesn't let you refuse to install updates, options you can't disable unless you have enterprise edition, completely insulting any sort of experienced users. It's generally undesirable.

You can thankfully prevent this by installing GWX Control Panel, disabling the get windows 10 app, disallowing windows 10 upgrades, deleting windows 10 programs, and enabling monitor mode. (They're just buttons, press them and it does it all automatically.)

It'll sit in the background as a watchdog to stop anything windows-10 related from happening.

7 looks better, smells better, and is better

Actually only home doesnt allow this.

Which is the edition that you get the free upgrade to, yes. If you want anything more you have to buy it all over again.

oh right i forgot :p

Eventually you're going to have to update, so might as well do it for free

People who have computers that can't handle 7 and up, or have compatibility issues of some sort. It really isn't a problem, even if you're on XP as long as you enjoy it and it does what you want it to do, and aren't stupid with what you download... You're fine.
