Oh I see. So you have to get the key and take the black key right from it if the pole from the note is right from its flag?
stuff just got a lot complicated. Than what is that thing that's like above the poles
flags have nothing to do with the tone of the note - they have to deal with how long the note is held out.
for example, the notes with the single flags (such as the first two notes) are 8th notes, meaning they take half the time held out as the notes with no flags.
dots are even more complicated. the dots (that look like periods) in front of notes mean you talk half of the duration of the note, then add it to the regular duration of the note.
for example, let's say you have a half note, which is two quarter notes.
half note: (open circle with stem) == ♩ + ♩
dotted half note: (half note with period in after it) == ♩ + ♩ + ♩
found in the third and fifth measures of your image.
Like the first 2 notes has stuff above it. What does it even mean?
(Btw I'm not an expert but isn't the bottom line supposed to be a bass clef?)
the bottom line is supposed to be bass clef usually, but it isn't. the top part is your right hand, the bottom part is your left hand - you just gotta learn how to read the notes.
