i don't know whether the entire page was the only method (but i'm fine with it so whatever) but one post would very likely get ignored

There used to only be one post and it definitely wasn't enough. We need our community in one place.

People have to moderate those boards though, or else they go downhill really quickly. None of us care enough about the Steam forum to actually put time into moderating it. (and it takes a lot)
