Okay it's time to brown townyze some of this. It's really easy to fake ingame name and a lot harder to fake BL_ID (though I've been on servers where people did it).

Why would Badspot be Auto-Admin? It seems really unlikely that Tez would've done that just for no reason.

So it seems most probably that he ran a quick script to change him name, and connected (as an admin). He writes that in the chat, and disconnect before anyone can see his false ID.

If this was real, Badspot probably would've posted on the forums. It's 99.99% likely Tezuni, and 0.01% likely a prank from Baddy.

Nice jokes you all, but this does seem serious. I'd at the least want a confirmation on all of this. Who knows, maybe there will be an announcement pinned tomorrow on this.

@McZealot, you do bring up a really good point. To be honest I know almost nothing about Blockland's administration methods and player confirmation, other than that players can connect with whatever name they want and do so. This is why I figured it might have been a real message.

as someone who's had someone use eval to set up some code to leave and rejoin as somebody else on my server, i can confirm its possible to fake both name and BLID on server join as long as faker has eval access and knows what he's doing.

its pretty clear this is a prank. badspot does not show up on the brick management menu on the server.

this happens too often for people to keep thinking it's legitimate. if anything was happening to blockland, badspot would make a big forum post about it, not just randomly pop into servers and say "lol blocklands over get forgeted kids"

this can be done with just events lol. I've seen it happen before on tezuni servers, there's probably a command or a button that admins can press

I don't see how he could do this considering we host our own servers, also taking into account third party rental servers.

I doubt this is Badspot.  He would have to update Blockland (heavens forbid) and remove multiplayer client features that have no strain at all on his machines, as far as I know.  It seems very pointless, we're all (relatively) happy with the Blockland we have and he knows it.  If he makes another Blockland, if he's bothered, it will simply be Blockland 2.  You can revert to the older versions of Blockland and the multiplayer will work because it's hosted by you, the player.

Badspot isn't an idiot and he knows the amount of work people like Pecon, Tezuni, Sylvanor, Greek2me and countless other modelers, programmers, game-mode creaters, mega-builders etc. have put into the game.  If he would actually do this, he would announce it on the forums ahead of time rather than waste time on a server.  This circles back to my original argument that he would simply make another blockland and leave the old one alone for all the old folk to play around with.

EDIT:  Perhaps the only strain would be the registering system and our beautiful forum.  Other than that, I really don't know.

TL;DR:  This defies all common sense.

Even if he were to stop hosting the master server, it's not like it'll be too difficult for another person to recreate it.
Sure it'd likely go against the ToS, but at that point who cares?
There'll always be methods of playing online since he only thing needed is the IP address of the server you wish to connect to.
