im pretty sure most people who are bigots understand how gay people think, but still hate them on religious basis or young taught ideals, and this awareness won't suddenly change them, just as i know why gay pride parades and months exist, but still hate them due to there uselessness
this is true, but pretending people are doing anything helpful by just raising awareness to gay people is a stupid view to have, people could be doing so much more to help gay people in this country and other countries, but waste most of it on having parades, dedicating months to gay people, and lots of complaining without actually doing anything, instead of actually helping the worse off gay people get out of the bad situations (and you can't really do anything about the young gay people because their parents can generally force any view upon them, even if they disagree, without question, so besides putting them into foster home systems, nothing can actually be done in this day and age), and doing close to nothing in other countries besides raising awareness

Honestly though, gay parades often just make people's outlooks on gay people worse because many of the participants are in their underwear and even love gear or toys and it just reinforces the idea on others that they're loveual deviants.

as the creator of this thread i feel obligated to defend its basis but I'm done arguing with you idiots because everything you say has no backing, they're just ideas that you get from stereotypes media and how you think things work

I am no longer going to argue against your claims, I will simply ignore them, someone else can defend them if they want

I will continue to make avatars and spread lgbt positivity where I can

can i get a rainbow flag behind the bear here
EDIT: never mind i already did it

Change the black background to the rainbow flag please.

I don't understand the point of raising awareness for LGBT people. What is the aim?

Also I don't understand why people should be proud of being LGBT the same way as I don't understand why people would be proud of having a certain hair/eye colour... Like yes, congratulations, you are attracted to people of the same gender, here's a badge...

there wasnt a negative stigma to having 'a certain hair/eye color', and a man and a woman with 'the same hair/eye color' have always had the right to marry.
same reason why there's black history month. its to celebrate the negative past the people have gone through, and to be happy that its over now.
we arent celebrating that we like the same gender, we are celebrating that we are allowed to like the same gender, and that the stigma is no longer a thing.

didn't we just stop arguing about this very thing

You don't understand a thing about why there's a black history month. This is an absolute butchering of the idea.

You say that, but ginger people are the subject of some pretty extreme bullying that many people don't bat an eye at. A lot of people have no qualms against giving abuse to someone over the colour of their hair, despite the obvious similarities to abusing someone over the colour of their skin.

But that's not me saying there shouldn't be lgbt-pride events.

its part of, but not exclusively.

thats just people being a richard. its not like ginger haired people had/have less rights

No, but modern day pride/rallies for loveuality, gender and (particularly) race aren't about equal rights anymore, as those have mostly been solved in the developed world. They focus on how those individuals are treated, and the prejudice they face.
And ginger people face no end of systemic, culturally-entwined prejudice, ranging from common verbal abuse, in person and even in the media, to physical and grievous violence.

tbh ive never seen anyone get bullied for their haircolor and i have pastel pink dyed hair. maybe this isnt a thing in my country?
ive also never seen anything negative based on being ginger. the only prejudice ive seen are that people really like "redheaded chicks"

I'll admit, according to the spread of news sources regarding the matter, it's quite a UK-centric issue, but I suppose that's to be expected as we have the highest proportion of natural redheads.
I've seen a lot of the abuse myself, growing up, as my brother has bright ginger hair.
