With that said, guns are ingrained deeply in North American culture. It would take years to even achieve what some of the European countries have set up for themselves. If you want to enforce a stronger control on guns, patience is key. Going after guns "cold-turkey" is going to cause a lot of civil unrest and probably even small wars.

There has been yet another mass shooting in the U.S. https://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=298312.0,
which may have caused[citation needed] more deaths than the Port Arthur massacre.

Edit: And indeed, gun control in Australia has caused a decrease in violent crime. Sure, people can use knives, but it's harder to kill with a knife, much less kill 35 people with one. And it should be noted that hunting rifles are still legal in Australia, because it's Australia and hunting rifles count as 'survival equipment'.
Also, Australia's gun laws are not necessarily "take away all the guns". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Australia

If someone wants to kill lots of people, said person will kill lots of people, regardless of the laws. Making guns harder to legally be obtained is not the proper way to go about it, because there are ways of illegally obtaining guns.

If more people exercised their rights to have guns, there would be less shootings, because more people would be able kill the shooter before they start shooting up the place, or the shooter will hesitate to even do it in the first place, out of fear he'll get shot right away.

The fact is the United States is littered with guns, & taking away a legal way of obtaining them only hurts the "good guys."

Chicago has the strictest gun control, if you want a frame of reference.

How good with a gun do you think you are? It doesn't really take any practice to just riddle the area with bullets, but can you reliably pick out the guy with the gun (from the other people that might have guns that are trying to shoot the guy with a gun) and shoot him?

i sympathise much more with the democratic party than i do the republican party, esp. these days

If you can't guess from my stance on the previous issue, Democrat.

Hoodadoo let's ban the assault rifles

I'm not sure if you know how mass shooting work but people who are running away from the loud bang noises probably aren't the people with the guns, and the person walking around with loud guns shooting the people who are running, probably is the person I should shoot.

But you're right, lets not even have the chance for defense, sounds like a more logical idea.

what is an assault rifle then?

what is an assault rifle then?
It's a rifle that you assault people with

It's a rifle that you assault people with
This could literally apply to any rifle

It's a rifle that you assault people with
Okay.

Should we ban assault cars too? What about assault knives? What's stopping someone from getting in a car, and running down everyone in a highly populated area?

Calling a rifle an assault rifle depends on who is holding it.

independent, I can make my own decisions

"An assault rifle is a fully automatic selective-fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine."

"An assault rifle is a fully automatic selective-fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine."
Once again, Are AR-15s, AK-47s, etc on the civilian market fully automatic or selective fire? No, they only have one firing mode and that is semi-automatic.
