Author Topic: Do any of you wear steel toe boots?  (Read 1305 times)

For my job one of the uniform requirements are to wear steel toe boots for 8hrs on concrete floors.
From what everyone is telling me is that they can be really uncomfortable and that I should sink a decent amount of money into a pair.

So I'm curious if any of you wear boots like that and or any brand recommendations.

Nooope like imagine if something managed to crush the steel you'd never get all those nasty toe pieces out of your shoe

I don't but I own some. I don't know what brand or anything.

I do suggest investing money in them if it's your job. They'll pay for themselves. Also look into gel soul things to put inside them, that could help as well.

yes. it makes for a good base to weld the spikes on.

there's a reason they call me richardy, the richard kicker.

Spent years working in an industrial environment on my feet all day wearing steel toe boots. Definitely drop the cash for a good sturdy pair.

If something hit your boot with enough force to crush the steel dome your foot would be forgeted with or without.

loving finally someone else understands this philosophy behind steel toe boots.

I spent like twenty to thirty bucks on some from walmart and worked 12 hour shifts at panda comfortably. Feet wise at least.

I know I'm just thinking it would be nice to be able to get your foot out if that happened without using jaws of life

Yes for PPE/when needed.
Steel toe boots are like mens version of high heels, that is to say they are extremely uncomfortable.
Realistically speaking whatever pair you buy will be uncomfortable and annoying for a while until you wear them in, at which point they may even come to show something that is representative of comfort.

I have a pair, they're stuffty though so they always grind against my left big toe (still fun to tap people's shins at camp though). get a good pair and you'll be fine

i have a pair theyre great

it wont matter if you were wearing unobtanium capped boots or flip flops, you're gonna need the jaws of life anyway

I believe you also said you got rejected from a job for being too tiny. I say this because your weight and working conditions greatly determine how much support your feet need. I'm tall, heavy, and was often lifting 50-100+ pound items all throughout the day. My situation would require a much sturdier boot with a stiff sole to provide stability. Just serving at Panda Express wouldn't require as much.

You wouldn't have a foot worth getting out though is the problem.

I use german military engineer boots, and they're the best I've tried so far.

Youve got a point. Panda was easy.
I do get sore feet from riding my motorcycle in the woods and those are like 200 dollar boots.
I guess its how strenuous what your doing is.
