while watching our baltimore NBC affiliate, a ticker went across the bottom saying that 911 has been made unavailable for unknown reasons

They have another line to call which is 311
But most people who aren't watching TV don't know this so if anything happens there screwed.

yeah luckily 311 is still up as an alternative, but it's really strange since both 911 AND it's backup system went down.

since news broke of this, I wonder if crimes will increase tonight.

It is literally the purge now.

Doesn't help that Baltimore has an insane crime rate.

wonder if they bothered to use the EAS "911 Telephone Outage Emergency" or not

9/11 only helps you after the fact anyways
even the best response times take minutes, sometimes it can be hours

people need to understand they have a responsibility for self defense, or else they should expect to be an easy target for criminals

They may have, all that I saw was the EAS ticker at the bottom of the screen meaning that they did use some form of EAS to get the word out
