im agnostic in the fact that i believe there is something greater than us out there

if big bang is real then there's gotta be something that led up to the big bang

yknow i hear a lot of people say god is eternal. hes always been and always will be

can the same be said for the particles that caused the big bang? or the universe its self?

An alien race can be greater to us enough to seem godlike.

An incompetent alien janitor aboard a super star destroyer with the lowest possible intelligence to a super advanced alien society that is about 5 billion years more evolved than us would seem like a god compared to us human beings.

Your god could be an incompetent alien janitor.

don't get me wrong juncoph, I definitely agree with you - and I think that the argument I previously stated is flawed, because you could just as easily call out things like congress or the military, or even things like sports for hindering technological advancement
There are corrupt or unnecessarily aggressive officials in very nearly everything

I don't really like the phrase "God has his own ways" when you try and ask the common religious person for an explanation of religion, although I can deal with it because you can easily say "I don't know why this works but it does, so I'll use it" in science

iirc one of stephen hawking's tv shows talked about how it was an imperfection in subatomic particles or something like that

can the same be said for the particles that caused the big bang? or the universe its self?
God Particles

talked about how it was an imperfection in subatomic particles or something like that
right but what created the subatomic particles

sub-subatomic particles

right but what created the subatomic particles
well themselves is the theory
literally out of thin not-even-air

people got scared that dying is nothing but just sitting in a black void so they had to re-assure themselves to believe in something
that or its just here because "god's plan"
seriously everything about "god" is in a loving book
why doesn't he just come down from his magical cloud and say "oh stuff waddup"

why doesn't he just come down from his magical cloud and say "oh stuff waddup"

Because it's god's plan!

We can't do abortion because it makes god cry.

We can't experiment on dead fetal tissue because it makes god cry.

We can't masturbate because it makes god cry.

We can't have premarital love because it makes god cry.

forget god, he's a pusillanimous individual.
Every time it rains, it's God crying

Please, stop your sins and be one with God

Every time it rains, it's God crying

wow the netherlands must be a really sinful country

THE JOKE IS THAT IT'S ALWAYS RAINING IN THE NETHERLANDS AND I loving HATE IT

"wahh wahh it rains so much in the UK"

The main issue now is just like it was back when the Catholic Church was an authoritative figure over Catholic nations.  I don't agree with a nation having an official religion because then it becomes politicized and used to oppress people.  The same was done with Protestantism on the British isles long ago, and it's beginning to happen with science.  Despite science being an ever changing realm that is intended to further our understanding of how things work there are politicians and activists out there that wish to use it to further their agenda.
