Author Topic: what is this genre of music?  (Read 583 times)

so ever since ive been playing guitar ive gotten more into rock/blues music. specifically songs such as this, "aint no rest for the wicked", songs that incorporate finger slides and have a kind of blues sound to them, things like that.

only thing is im not really sure what genre these songs are? if anyone could help me out that would be great. im trying to find more in the area, and if anyone has some good songs to suggest that would also be cool :-)

but when i search alternative rock i get nothing that sounds similar, i get foo fighters and stuff like that unless im not looking hard enough?

edit: for instance this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1XpPqPkJJA is not what im looking for (listen to what i linked in op). song off that list that relates most to what im looking for is loser by beck

I mean, alt rock encompasses a wide range of styles. You're just getting different styles. How about these? https://youtu.be/F_SbpL5mMwQ

i liked the first song, but the rest seemed very different. ill look around some more in that area for sure tho
you'd probably like mac demarco or maybe the dandy warhols?
didnt really feel either of those, maybe i should not reference aint no rest for the wicked as it seems to be confusing. i dont like anything else by cte

maybe there isnt really a big scene for this style, i just thought there would be

I go through the same problem with anything labeled "alt x"

Alternative encompasses so much different stuff because they're all alternatives to rock.
