I'm just interested in BLF's preference over the two companies.
Do you like Nvidia or AMD, and why?

Nvidia if you've saved up enough.
AMD if you like budget gaming or need a cheap card to get the job done.

Nvidia, reliable and it has some neat twiddly bits like shadowplay

NVIDIA has almost every advantage over AMD aside from price, especially in the world of workstations/rendering.

Nvidia is power efficient but costs more
AMD is cheaper but not power efficient
The GPU's I have owned have been:
GTS 450, GTX 660Ti, GTX 970, GTX 1080 (Pending/Ordered)

intel + nvidia have had top of the line for a long while now.
for a guy without a budget there is no other option.
amd crap is ok if you have a tight budget and want mid/above average at best rig.
but you also have no issues with more heat and power usage.
