Undertale is the worst game you could give a non-player. It's so built up on concepts from other video games, it just cannot make sense unless you've had previous experience playing games. He should have given him a copy of Portal 2, which I found has been EXTREMELY successful with getting non-gamers interested in video games.

It's a small sect of the community that people love to blow out of proportion. Most people end up loving the game. "OH NO SOME RANDOM NOBODY MADE A CRINGY VIDEO ABOUT A GAME! THE GAME MUST BE BAD!"

The game is "Meh" at best imo. The community hyped it up so loving much and made the game seem like it's the game of the century even though it isn't.
