Author Topic: game theory/matpat apparently gave the pope undertale  (Read 10814 times)

it's the fanbase. if you play the game and manage to block out as much of the community as possible afterwards, you'll have a good experience.
That's what i did

"a man gives a man a loving video game, what an absolute piece of inhuman trash i hope he burns"
Yes, I said the man should die. Those were exact words.

Are you a loving idiot? Are you incapable of reading? Do you have comprehension problems? Let me rewrite it for the special kid over here, but I'll do it very slowly so he can keep up this time;

"A person who was genuinely interested in making somebody who don't play video games interested in games should be handing out copies of a game that was actually designed for people of all skill/knowledge levels, where as Undertale is essentially a total overhaul of Earthbound and makes very unrealistic expectations of new players which makes it a bad choice of game to give anybody who hasn't played a game before. I've totally lost respect for a person who would end up giving somebody as important as the Pope a bad example of the power of video games for non-gamers."

It's a small sect of the community that people love to blow out of proportion. Most people end up loving the game. "OH NO SOME RANDOM NOBODY MADE A CRINGY VIDEO ABOUT A GAME! THE GAME MUST BE BAD!"
You have no idea how much that stuff gets thrown around.
You mean how much of that stuff actually exists, not at all blown out of proportion.

forget do you even remember when Mr.mii became a cringelord because of it lol.

The worst part of the community is the loving research.

is it the game or is it the community

i have not played undertale as of yet
Both.
See, when undertale was first released, it was seen as a singleplayer game that everyone liked, doesn't seem too bad right?
Now skip to 3 months after the release and the next time you check it, a fandom would have formed and there would be people hating on the game, due to it's usage of furries, memes, anime, and it's popularity.
Skip to now, where even the loving pope has the game, and there you have it, you have just made a game turn into one of the worst games, simply because of it's fanbase and it's major hatred that eventually will get to you, even if you are a fan of the game.
In fact, if the fandom didn't exist, and it was just the game alone, then sure I would say it's a great game, but not game of the year. That's right, on it's first year, it managed to out best some of the best games (LoZ, Mario 64, Melee), and come out as the best game of all time, simply because of fans, popularity, and because "it has everything a today game should have".

loving Disgraceful.

wanna bone those bones

there's been like 4 or 5 people all at seperate times on this entire forum of thousands and thousands of active members that spammed undertale stuff. And online, it's incredibly easy to avoid the areas that obsess over the game. Youtube, reddit, facebook, whatever that nintendo mii system is called, etc. with some small exceptions in other online forums. They exist, and you can stumble into them every now and again, but the only time it was really in-your-face was really recently after it was released.

i don't care what kind of people like good games, the way i see it a good game is a good game. undertale isn't a perfect title, but it's certainly innovative enough to warrant the praise that it gets, and it proved that there's a market for the kind of game that it is.

in any case this is hilariously stupid what was matpat thinking

That's what i did
considering your BL name is Asriel Dreemurr and your steam name was Asriel at one point i'm going to say you are heavily in denial

could have chosen a better game for the pope to start with

"Hey you're a leader of one of the largest religions here's some game that some people on the internet like have fun"

scenario: the pope likes undertale so much that he starts referencing it
