anyone know what i could do to fix this?

Gang Beasts recently tried to update but it had some weird error with the repository or whatever, i restarted Steam and that seems to have fixed it, maybe it'll work in your case as well

edit: i should note that before and after i did the restart, hl2.exe seemingly vanished
edit2:i have a sneaking suspicion that yesterday's update did this
