Author Topic: What is the most disappointing/regrettable purchase you have ever made?  (Read 6855 times)

Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 when i was like, 11. I just happened to notice I had $40 in my pocket, and i felt the strong need to spend it. saw the game and got it.

I have maybe 3 hours in it to this day.

apart from the ungoldy long walking sections that made me hate it
I personally loved those. The eerie atmosphere of an abandoned city, getting a drop on Covenant patrols, spotting Virgils signs leading to logs and unlocking caches, and zipping down streets in a mongoose.
The story pieces were cool too, and had interesting environments, but you didn't always get long to soak it in.

I appreciated one chance in the Halo franchise to feel like a regular soldier, in an honest combat zone, for a realistic length of time.
Not every Halo game needs it, but ODST made good use of it.

I know everyone hates Starbound and it's cool to hate it and whatever but every time it's brought up I just have to mention that I've played 750 hours of it and I'm still definitely going to go back to it more after it hits 1.0, which is going to be later this month I think. It was just very much worth my money.
This is why I don't put it in the Regret column. Despite having never gotten too far, I've played several characters and enjoyed it, and somehow it's one of my most played games.

Am I disappointed that development is slower than I'd like, and that some developments haven't been ideal? Yes.
Am I disappointed in the game as a whole? No.
Do I regret buying it? No.

wasn't really a purchase, but i once gave a homeless person some money and found them later overdosed in the parking lot of my grocery store

that's actually really sad

something my dad taught me pretty early on in life is don't give homeless people money if they refuse any offer of food or the purchase of food

am i the only one who has 24 hours on starbound and think the $15 for it was worth?

Those pans with the heat-resistant black skin on the inside that peels away over time, revealing the metal and rendering the pans dangerous to use.  Make sure you buy vitreous enamel pan sets instead, they will last you indefinitely so long as you treat them with care.

The Dead Linger.

A zombie-sandbox game on Steam's early access.

20 bucks. Doesn't sound like much. Infinite world full of zombies, exploration, and survival. Doesn't sound all that bad, does it? Game had a bunch of promises, a bunch of hopes dreams, and even a roadmap for the game that was very expansive.

It was later I learned buying an idea is a very stupid...well...idea.

First, the game ran like junk on my potato-toaster.

Then the devs changed the game's engine like two or three times.

Then the devs removed the infinite world generation.

Then the devs officially stopped developing the game.

Then what I can only assume to be the devs took the game off the Steam store.

Then only months later I realized the refund feature was a thing but according to their policy, it was already too late.

Now it sits in my Steam library just waiting to played, but I doubt that'll happen.
