then show me how I'm wrong

show me a nuke that doesn't have a trigger that activates when it collides with the ground

please actually look at the links you're getting sent

i don't think you know how this works at all

If making a nuclear weapon was as simple as hitting a wad of uranium with a hammer the world would be a much different place.

Here's an idea: Don't post blatantly wrong stuff on the internet when you have absolutely 0 contextual knowledge of what you're talking about.

it would be so much better
okay maybe

If making a nuclear weapon was as simple as hitting a wad of uranium with a hammer the world would be a much different place.
wouldn't the world be a better place without people though

The title of this thread is right, but not the content of the OP. Stopping all the ICBMs is rather difficult, especially with all the decoys. And if you could protect from all the ICBMs, that would break Mutually Assured Destruction, allowing the nation with this missile shield to launch missiles at other nations without fear of reprisal. During the cold war, Russia was terrified of the prospect of an American first strike.

its not futile if you believe hard enough

Russia believes they have enough anti missile defense systems to survive a nuclear war now. If you completely shield your country you will feel over confident enough to do anything.

NATO forces are around the Russian border for this reason alone.
