Author Topic: Best Halo Map Decided: Blood Gulch  (Read 2973 times)

Either Blood Gulch or Valhalla imo.

Always felt that Blood Gulch was better for playing (because it was a wider space ideal for sniping and driving), but Valhalla was better for just messing around in (since it's got a lot more "map attractions" like the downed Pelican or the little metal bar you can stand on at the top of either base for sniping).

Halo 3 will always be the last and best real Halo game to me. Valhalla, Rat's Nest, High Ground, Construct, Sandtrap, Sandbox, Avalanche, Foundry, Standoff, and Epitaph are pretty much my absolute favorites. My friends and I used to (and still sometimes do) spend hours on these, either fighting or in forge. We set up chopper or warthog demolition derbies, chain reactions of fusion coils, rocket battles, coming up with new gamemodes to play, etc. I'm still famous among them for inventing "piller smash" on Sandbox, which we still play.

I also go on matchmaking from time to time, but for some reason the only maps we ever get are Snowbound, The Pit, and OCCASIONALLY Valhalla or Construct.

blackout/lockout/a custom map of either imo, i think its really enjoyable for 2v2

Valhalla all the way.

but i just call it vanilla.

Was I literally the only one to vote or what???

Does no-one remember "Boarding Action"?I remember a trick to surviving a fall out of the map, my team found this out, I joined them, and we enjoyed sniping Blue-Bastards that didn't see us, as well as enjoying Xbox-Silver, and the Xbox itself. Memories...

I absolutely love Last Resort. Great map imo.

I always wished this map would get remade for the later games. I only have Halo 1 for PC, and the multiplayer relies on Gamespy which doesn't even exist anymore.

Halo: Custom Edition: Gearbox made a second version of Halo PC which can be downloaded for free and installed by anybody with a valid Halo PC key, which allows you to use create and play with custom maps. Doesn't include the SDK itself, but that's unnecessary to play multiplayer games.

Halo Custom Edition 1.10 Patch: Necessary to remove resolution restrictions, CD-requirement and get access to the new Bungie master-server so you can play online again.

Halo: Open Sauce 4.0: Let's you play with Project YELO maps (which allow things like dual wielding, vehicle boarding, increased particles, FoV sliders and a whole hell of a lot more features), such as the CMT's newest version of the campaign. Also allows you to download certain mod maps when joining servers.

I would recommend maybe downloading a couple maps from the Halomaps website, such as the CLASSIC Extinction or Immure. If you want use the CMT campaign, you will need to download a custom UI map that has a Campaign button (HCE doesn't include the campaign default, though several people have ported it over between Halo PC and made their own versions).
