"Verizon is making a major bet that it can put together two fading giants — Yahoo and AOL — to create a new mobile and online powerhouse.... [Verizon is] to acquire Yahoo’s operating business, which includes advertising technology and popular online content such as Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Finance and micro-blogging site Tumblr."

it was inevitable, Yahoo has lost a lot of money on many poor business decisions (like buying tumblr, for example) and it's not hard to notice that Yahoo is far less relevant than it was a decade ago.

Verizon just wants to combine the advertising technology of AOL with Yahoo to make more money.

They won't do stuff to tumblr.

I'm surprised people still use Yahoo. It's basically adware at this point--I only see it by accident.

as a company, I like yahoo
I'm afraid that verizon might decide to stop all that good stuff yahoo does :(

Google was gonna buy yahoo for like $40bil but they refused
