five soldiers from the north korean people's army deserted their posts to raid a chinese border town. two soldiers were killed in a shootout with local police and a manhunt has been called to find the last three.

north korean defection is nothing new, but soldiers defecting to china--especially to rob civilians--is rare. such an event has occurred previously in 2014 and 2015, but chinese condemnation was comparatively lacking due to the tense situation on the peninsula. kim jong-un's denunciation of china and resumption of nuclear pursuit--coupled with china's resurgence of nationalism following issues in the south china sea--has made beijing callous to the former ally, and as such is not expected to be as lenient in criticizing kim for this debacle.

this event marks another smear between the two nation's relations.

Korean Soldiers really are underarmed and undertrained if they cant handle a small police force. Unless that police force was pretty big and heavily armed with alot of training.

Also, why do i feel like NK is telling that they are "Rogue" to cover up that its just soldiers they told to go on a mission to steal.

military people dont always strap. you think a few looters would be on high alert and ready to shoot some random policemen? The police would be the first to fire on the looters, not the other way around
