Here is the link to the first tutorials I watched on how to use milkshape effectively.  They cover the basics of modeling, not necessarily just for blockland.  These are pretty old but they helped me a lot when I first got started and I think they would help a lot of the newer people learn some good modeling habits.  I did not make these tutorials.

I wouldn't say its the best, but its the cheapest and easiest to get started with.  It costs $35

Milkshape 3D is one of the best low poly modelling programs I have ever used, very basic and very easy.

can someone get me a copy of the animation tutorial? it said that i have to pay a handicapped fee for it.

It's great for doing HL stuff, I mean it was DESIGNED for HL, it's a great little modeller, especially for hacks and rigs.
