America was already in the middle east at the time. After 9/11 america did gain more support for their gulf war campaign.

I said they are right to think that this is the case. Nowhere in my post did I ever say that the united states was responsible for 9/11. As a NYC-native, I believe that the US had literally no relations with the 9/11 and it was entirely al-qaeda's doing.

The 9/11 attacks happened because of our presence in the middle east. Those associated with the attack (Al-Qaeda) publicly said that the point of the attacks were to be a warning to pull out of the middle east (which because of 9/11 the exact opposite happened, funnily enough). If the US was connected with the attacks, it would be indirectly caused due to our presence in the middle east.
