google has put all their effort into enlarging the thumbnails and not y'know not plastering stephen colbert and pewdiepie all over the site and not giving lesser known youtubers the spotlight

I think it's a bit better like this so we can see the thumbnail fully and people put in a lot of effort into thumbnails so they can finally be recognized. It's a bit of a good marketing move
