Author Topic: Is it a black people thing to use washcloths?  (Read 8067 times)

I've been told that it's a black person thing to use washcloths. I'm 25% black (and around 75% white) and I don't use a washcloth.

/discuss

it's because they're genetically unclean
this is sarcasm in case you didn't notice

My dad uses a wash cloth, so does my step mom and they're both white

finally i'm slightly black

what dumbass told you this or have i just been completely unaware of racial issues regarding washcloths my entire life

My mom loves washcloths and always urged me to use them but now we don't have a working washer/dryer so neither of us can use them. I don't feel the need for them.

Oh great here comes Jitank

I use one of those synthetic loofah scrub things, the ones that are like a loofah ball, usually with a rope and plastic sucker to stick it to the wall.
I have no idea what they're actually called. When I bought one it was called a 'shower rose' or something similar, but my mum calls it a 'buff-puff', which is apparently the name for another type of body product.

We used to have washcloths (they're called flannels in the UK) when I was a child. When my parents used to bath me and my brothers they would wet a flannel, fold it, and lay it across our eyes and face. They would do this so they could shampoo and rinse our hair without getting the soap in our eyes.

I think we probably still have them in our airing cupboard but we don't really use them anymore. Although I think my mum did use an exfoliating cloth before.

Carolcat.

i got hooked on them mesh ball things lol.
i make sure to get the pinkest one possible because visitors love to tease me about it, so i just own it.

I mean I use one.

How else do you clean yourself without a washcloth/scrub? People who use their hands and a bar of soap are literally subhuman.

I'm white and I sometimes use washcloths, it just depends on if we have any washed or not.

are we talking about bathing or doing the dishes
