Author Topic: I watch TV shows backwards  (Read 4670 times)

Does anyone else do this? Is this a weird thing to do? I don't know how i developed this habit but i found that I enjoy it more and usually come away with a better understanding of the sequence of events.

Do you mean like for example starting at episode # and working your way backwards, or do you mean literally watching them in reverse?

starting at the last episode of a season and making my way to the first

o i thought you meant literally backwards

I'm not gonna lie, that sounds cool and I gotta try it out sometime, thanks for the idea.

I guess that's kind of like a Memento kind of way to watch stuff?

That's interesting. What do you think about shows that have no real set purpose i.e. you can jump in pretty much anywhere and have it not make a difference?

I love that movie more then words can describe

I kind of do that samething, but with video games.

Can't say I would appreciate watching shows that way, particularly Dramas.
I like the anticipation of being in the dark and wondering where the plot will go.

I can see less issue for something with less of an overarching plot, like Star Trek or Doctor Who, where the chronology isn't so important.
But I wouldn't consider it for something like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad.

This I can relate to more. One of the unintended benefits is that often later games in a series are more advanced technologically and visually, plus their gameplay can be more refined, such as Mass Effect 2/3 compared to 1.
This makes it easier to get into the series as an aged game can be frustrating. Starting on a more accessible later game may draw you into the series and lore and give you the motivation to put up with the older game.

I also just look up the final boss of a game I just heard of.

I had recently watched Breaking Bad backwards. I found it a lot more engaging somehow. Like seeing things go from bad to the past where it all started out so innocently.

Would you watch a series in reverse on your first viewing, or only after having watched it through normally?

How would you watch a show like Breaking bad or Boardwalk empire like that?
