I'm not sure if Emmanuel Goldstein's eight-day ban was ever promoted to permanent or not, but I know that he has not been back since early 2015.

Obviously it's indefinite since Badspot has the power to ban anyone for any period of time.
Though whenever someone makes an "I quit for X days" thread, he tends to ban them for that long.
So it's entirely possible you could say "I quit for a year" and he'll ban for you that long.
