i have nothing against transgenders, but it's my personal belief they are mentally ill to some degree.  

it's not a personal belief it's a known fact
transgenderism/gender identity disorder (fun fact disorder is a synonym with illness when used alongside mental)
it's a mental disfunction but in no way as harming as a disorder like schizophrenia

i don't think a lot of people here really understand how genital reassignment surgery works
you don't cut the parts off but rather have them relocated and reformed inside or outside depending on which gender you're going for
ftm is a lot harder to do while mtf procedures have been slowly improving over the years (for instance ftm still need that air pump thing to get an erection and mtf can now have a semi-working clitoris made out of the richardhead)

i think the point is mainly focused on how people are treated rather than what they are. as in, if someone's preferred identity is female, then the practical stipulation of "oh but they're trans/cis" is unnecessary
