Author Topic: I turn 16 in 1 Days and Im going to get my GED(Help!)  (Read 2599 times)

OP do you even really know what you want to do in life?
You're only 16 you have two whole years before you're even legally considered an "adult". You still have a lot of time to think about your future. Honestly I don't think you're ready for the real world yet.

Also the President of The Collage himself told me that He prefers Home schooled kids rather than Public because they are normally more "Disciplined" and "Motivated", Also my sister is working at City-Hall and working her way up to state government, So I honestly don't believe its that hard to get a job unless you don't go to collage, And then I believe it would be the same grind as coming from High school and not going to collage
Ya know generally people like that will butter your bread because they think it'll improve their chances of you going to that college.

I know a GED is not as bad as most people paint it up to be, I know hundreds of people who have gotten they're GED at 16 and were home schooled and said it was one of the best things they ever could have done, But I'm not changing my mind about the GED I just don't know how to calm down.

What do these people do in life?

I mean OP isn't really wrong, a GED isn't a bad thing to get for a homeschooler and community college is usually a somewhat affordable option if you're looking at achieving an early long-term career (especially if you keep your grades up and try to hash out a scholarship)

It's certainly a big decision, and ultimately you should talk to your parents about it and see what they think. Not to see what they think you should do, but to get some perspective on the matter.

Just to name a few, 2 Are Studying at UAB to become a Doctor, 1 a lawyer, Another a accountant, 3 at UNA one to become a Comp Science major (What I want to go into), 1 Chiropractor, and another a nurse, Plus many more at University of South Alabama, UA, Auburn University, and UWA.

My Mom thinks I should because I have very high grades, Shes the one who will drive me, My Brother and Sister said I am ready, And I am rlly good at studying and keeping grades up.

highschool is usually lame-ish
college is fun on campus

life after college is just work, which is the worst of them all
so i wouldn't rush it unless your HS situation is really bad

what tez said: rushing your education is just rushing your way to work. take your time and smell the roses, find some new hobbies. sure you can push to go get a GED now but why now? why not later?

I don't think you're really doing yourself any favors trying to jump the gun and get in college so early.

Either way, why be afraid of college? I'd be afraid of not going to college.

I'm not afraid of college what so ever, And that's the insane part, Is I don't even know why I get anxious, Because the very thought of doing it at other times makes me so Happy. And I don't care what other people say I'm doing it, My brother hit a serious stroke of luck and came straight out of Community College with a Associates Degree to get hired for a $17/hour job, I simply wanted to know how to do away with the uneasy feeling I get at times.

Honestly just typing it out and (sort of) talking about it helped a ton, Now I'm only getting Good Feelings about it. So in away y'all helped...  :cookie:

I just want to add that you only get one chance at a high school education but you can always go back and get a GED

but eh bro do what you want

Working as soon as possible is a good thing though. Would you rather be going to school still or be making money? Sure you'll have all the extra expenses, but you'll still be independent and be able to pay for your own education compared to leeching off your parents.

i think you should stay in school and fix those spelling errors.
