Author Topic: [NEWS] SF 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick refuses to stand for the national anthem  (Read 1649 times)

yes, truly a tragedy worthy to be shouted across my facebook feed for decades

Why is this considered news? He didn't stand for the national anthem becuase he sees black people being oppressed.

There have emerged several videos of fans burning Kaepernick jerseys, including one fan doing it in time with the national anthem, and Kaepernick himself has been decried by several different people, including former 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh.

Are you loving kidding me? people are that triggered over one person not standing for the anthem?  Him not standing is not hurting anyone, it's not pertaining to anyone but himself so why should people care?

It's disrespectful to the people who put their lives on the line to keep the country free. It's like going to your mother's funeral and spitting on the coffin.

doing nothing is not close to similar to actually doing something disrespectful

how is not standing up for the national anthem like spitting into my mothers coffin?  Yes it is respectful to stand up for the anthem, but to go and burn his loving jersey while the anthem is playing is taking it too far.

If you don't stand for the national anthem then you don't respect the country and if you don't like the country there are plenty of other places to live.
these are clearly the words of someone who has never even considered immigrating to another country
It's disrespectful to the people who put their lives on the line to keep the country free.
you mean the people who go to random countries in the middle east and murder people for no reason

literally no it isn't

what do you actually think should happen? do you want this boy to be punished or do you just disagree with him

Most veterans don't give a stuff if you sit down. Mainly because they know they fought for your freedom to sit down.

Ya, it's all the moms and the guys who were, "gonna join the Marines," who get pissed at this kind of stuff because they like to think that sucking soldier rooster will make them important too.

That'd be true if the reason were that you couldn't physically stand or you were too tired to or you felt you could honor America sitting down as well as you could standing up.

That's not what he's doing here though. What he's doing is he's sitting down, drawing attention away from everyone and everything else onto himself, to say that America, the nation that these veterans fought and died for, isn't great at all because blacks are being gunned down in the streets by tribal cops for no reason, even though there's no truth to that statement whatsoever.

That, or he's secretly trying to draw attention to himself in order to extend his career as a stuff player. There is such a thing as abusing freedoms, you know.

He shouldn't be punished, if he was this country wouldn't be as great as it is. I just find it incredibly disrespectful to do anything against the flag or anthem because people gave their lives so you'd not lose your rights.

If doing something is respectful it only stands to reason that not doing it is disrespectful. His jersey has no meaning so burning it is definitely not taking it too far, no one is getting hurt and their burning stuff (I assume) they paid for.

these are clearly the words of someone who has never even considered immigrating to another country why would I want to go to any country other than the best one?you mean the people who go to random countries in the middle east and murder people for no reason 9/11 is a conspiracy theory, it never happened!
literally no it isn't do you have a respectometer or some stuff?

i wont stand for the pledge of allegiance. because its creepy and i don't swear allegiance to any country. not in protest lol

an extremely small number of veterans alive today actually fought for our freedom. let's end that BS narrative.

they fought and died for america's political and economic interests

Tbh the pledge of allegiance is dumb

i'd stand for the national anthem, but i'd do that in literally any country i was in to be respectful. if someone chooses not to, i really don't care.

yeah that's fine, i only have problems with people that actually want people that do this to be punished. he has his right to symbolic speech and he can use that as he wishes, even if it's a negative view about the state that protects that right
