you ultimately only need one round to do the job if you place your shot right, but hey, what if the first 5 either miss or hit but don't succeed in neutralizing the target? you never know

The thing about people is that during life threatening situations we fill with adrenalin and can get shot several times before going down. Shoot some guy charging at you in the abdomen and he might not even feel it.

If you're going a lower caliber I'd go for a semi-auto but that's just me.

Magazine fed is definitely a bonus, but I'm not a soldier so I only really need to carry enough to fully chamber a gun and then maybe a few bullets to spare, so a speedloader is definitely easier to carry compared to a magazine.

Along with that, fewer moving parts and the shells stay in the cylinder. I might end up getting a semiautomatic pistol just for the safety feature alone, though.

As the resident revolver nut, you can solve the ease issue with moonclips instead of speedloaders. Just have to have a revolver thats machined or made to accept them.

AFAIK most gun crime in the US is caused by Self Deletes and fights between gangs. The amount of normal people shooting people on the street is very small. As an addition, banning assault rifles has not caused any dips in gun violence statistics.
