*the 180 million figure is being reported by unions and hasn't been officially corroborated yet, so take it with a grain of salt for now

union leaders report that anywhere from 150 million to 180 million people are currently conducting sit-ins or protesting the indian government's gross mistreatment of its laborers. among the demands of labor is a pay increase from 104 rupees ($1.56) a day to 692 rupees ($10.39) and the reversal of privatization maneuvers designed to bring in foreign capital at the expense of domestic need -- and of course the increasing demand for appropriate insurance and healthcare.

I really hope they can get that pay increase. It's sad that so many places like that have people working practically for breadcrumbs. India isn't even the worst of them.

Indians are probably the best of all the brown people.

I can't say I know much at all about Indian politics so I don't know how likely it is that they will get reform.

But, I know that life is tough for the lowest classes of the Indian people. And they deserve better, to become a great first-world powerhouse. They're a good people, generally. And already are strong industrial leaders. If they could maintain that while improving the quality of life/workers rights they'd be quite an inspirational country.

McDonald Employees demanding 15 dollars. The indians don't even have that much self entitlement as they only ask for 10.

It's not entitlement to not want to work three different jobs in order to afford basic living conditions
