I must have been lucky, I only had to learn cursive once (third grade) and rarely used it
outside of the lessons.
What really upset me was how my elementary school
assembled the fifth grade classes based on student behavior and achievement. This wouldn't have pissed me off as much if I hadn't been included with the slowest and most poorly behaved of the three groups, then dumped onto a first-year teacher who had only just gotten out of college.
As for middle school, it was the stuffty memes and love interests that killed it for me. That, and the students coming in directly after my class would never have some of the worst teachers, and got to have a class with iPads.
