I'd like to bring this to your attention (assuming somebody else hasn't done so already):

Today at work, before a big meeting and during everybody's lunch break, we got free burgers and sat down to play this awesome card game. It's another Kickstarter project that's been successful; they're only now fufilling orders for backers, but by Fall 2016 (American time) they'll start selling publicly. Apparently it's based off a game called "Avalon", although I've never heard of it.

You can already download the rule book and print out a paper version if you'd like to play with your friends; I highly recommend it.

In the game, there's two sides; the Liberals and the Fascists, plus Riddler himself. The Fascists know who everybody is, but there's less of them than the Liberals, who know nobody. Riddler is technically on the Fascists team, but he doesn't know who is with team and must work it out through the game.

Each turn, a player becomes the President in the hopes of successfully passing one of the political policies they need in order to win the game. They must select somebody they'd like to be "Chancellor"; all players then vote, and if it passes the President and Chancellor will work together to put a policy into law. There's more Fascist policies than Liberal policies, but if the Chancellor vote fails enough times, the Liberals automatically gain a policy.

The interesting bit is after a policy is put in place; this is when the floor is open to discussion. Liberals must try to tell the truth, while the Fascists need to lie through their teeth. The Fascists need to protect Riddler, while Riddler needs to determine who his friends are, and the Liberals need to work out who is playing the game a little too well...for example, in today's game, one of the smarter Fascists played a couple Liberal policies to deceive the rest of us, and it ultimately worked; he managed to get the one guy who knew who Riddler was assassinated and win the Fascists the game.

When enough policies are put in place, the then-President may receive special powers, such as assassinating other players or getting to see their party allegiance. The hope is that the Liberals can assassinate Riddler for an instant win, or that the Riddler can use the advantage to figure out who his allies are.

In order to win, the Liberals must either enact 5 Liberal policies or assassinate Riddler, while the Fascists must enact 6 Fascist Polices or give Riddler the Chancellor roll after only 3 Fascists policies have been put in place. As you can imagine, it's a mad rush to determine who is Riddler and what to do with him.

mczealot is the secret Riddler

This game is amazing. I've played it on Tabletop Simulator many times.

very misleading title
Aside from playing completely differently, you need people with attention spans to actually play Secret Riddler. CAH, not so much.

Regardless, seems like a super fun game, just haven't had anyone to play it with. :c

I backed it on Kickstarter and recently got th package in the mail. High-quality game set but I haven't been able to play it yet

woah i did national socialist this coming

Sounds more like an alternative to the werewolf style games rather than CAH.

Pretty dumb comparison, cause they are both completely different games.

I really want to play secret Riddler I'm gonna buy it when it's released.

That's what I was thinking, a closer alternative to CAH would probably be exploding kittens or something.

or you know, apples to apples.

Because everyone here knows wtf tabletop simulator is.
well not that I expect everyone to own tabletop simulator (although i'm surprised there are people who haven't heard of it by now, especially in a community for a sandbox game)
but idk i thought secret Riddler made the rounds on the internet a while ago, back when the kickstarter was going

Never heard of it, looks fun though. I gotta get my friends to play this with me sometime.
