so i want my desktop screen to look prettier and cooler, does anyone have any suggestions for places i can get something that will do that for me? not just theme changes (im using w10 btw), but something that changes the style of the buttons, taskbar, ect.

thanks in advance :)

this isn't something that changes the taskbar or anything but it adds stuff to your desktop that may or may not be useful or look cool to you

google 'rainmeter'

With Windows 10, your not gonna get anywhere close to that without paying for a third party software.

Why don't you go and suck Mac richard if you're going to be that annoying over the new OS? Why do you constantly have to dive into every single thread concerning Windows 10 in the vain hope of "converting" people from the "evil" OS to an outdated one?

I'd rather listen to Lord Tony teach me all about the world being made of chemicals or some stuff than hear you whine about how you're a Luddite who can't get with the times.

Rainmeter is a great place to start; I used to have a Mass Effect skin that was just wonderful.

I've heard of an application called "Ultimate Windows Tweaker"; I'd be careful about it (run it through a virus scan first, I don't trust a lot of these Windows UI applications that come from shady sources), but it looks like it can do interesting stuff.

While its not exactly what you want, Rainmeter is absolutely amazing.

But the world is made out of chemicals.

do you have a link for the mass effect skin?
that sounds amazing

There are ways to organize your Start Menu properly so that you can press Windowskey and type words to open programs/folders/images/etc. Technically any program that goes into your Start Menu can be accessed that way but for customization/ease of access you can run "%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu". A similar but much more compact / organized [with user input] program is also Launchy.
The whole purpose of either of these is to hide any and all icons from your desktop, making your desktop clean of that so that you can put all the Rainmeter you want  while allowing better access to any program you have in your mind.

Why do you have to get salty every time I post in a Windows thread? It's as if you seek me out just so you can stuff on me and everything I say. When I tried to customize windows 10, I couldn't find one method that actually did what I wanted. I don't criticize 10 for no reason. It has its flaws. Am I wrong for pointing them out just like you would with any other OS? I'm not trying to convert anyone. It's not for me, and you'll have to live with that. For now, OP, you're gonna have to use Stardock Windowblinds or wait until a legit free program comes out.
