What? No, that's not how that works. If any site is ordered a court order, if they don't comply they are breaking the law. The rules aren't different for them than anyone else.

but others arnt getting sued. just content removed.
this judge is pulling some new stuff. if the dev can raise the legal fees hes trying and it goes to court, it could be a new precedent for online content.

The judge doesn't sue them. The abusive company sues them. And removing reviews from steam is a whole different thing that doesn't revolve around court orders.

you misread... i never loving said a judge is suing anyone.
people are being sued by game devs for money for bad reviews. that has nothing to do with removing reviews like normal court orders have always done.

OK. Let me try to make sense of this mess then.

but others arnt getting sued. just content removed.
Here, you're saying most of the time when we've seen abusive companies trying to censor critics, they remove steam reviews. Which for the most part is true, though I don't see why it's relevant.

this judge is pulling some new stuff.
and here's where you lost me. What do you mean "this judge is pulling some new stuff?" Because all the judge does is mandate the court order. I don't know the process for getting a court order, but I suspect it's easier than it sounds. I seriously doubt this is a "precedent."

Even if they did manage to get the legal fees (They probably won't), there's 0% chance they'll win. They have literally no case.

I find it funny how if tony didn't use the [NEWS] tag he would of been able to fit the entire title in

because this isnt the usual subpoena for removing a review. this has nothing to do with changing or removing a review.
this judge for the first time is allowing a dev to sue individual users for millions, for calling a game stuffty. its been tried many times but no one will issue that ridiculous stuff. this has already moved along to far, and it will encourage more companies to do the same.

steam is under no obligation to protect it's users, as we have seen them throwing the users under the bus.
removing the dev and games wasnt some petty revenge move that you are all fapping to, it was PR to hide the issue.

We know. It was to get the users information, that was it.

this judge for the first time is allowing a dev to sue individual users for millions
for forgets sake the judge just gave the court order for the user information. They're not the ones saying "OK, you can sue this person." If you file to sue someone, the court has to at least humor you. That's how the system works. That's not the judge.

steam is under no obligation to protect it's users, as we have seen them throwing the users under the bus.
And where's your evidence that they're "throwing people under the bus." Do you know the ins and outs of how the court system works for getting an online users information?

im laughing so hard rn

Valve let these guys back on Steam after the death threats to Gaben? Wow.
