Wondering which one you guys prefer/think is better. Also list why you think your choice is better. Me personally, I've been using Premier but my knowledge is strictly surface level. I don't know if Vegas has more features or anything but last time I tried it I had problems with it. That was a few years ago though.

Sony vegas due to how easy / simple the ui and controls are to use

What's your budget.

Well ones "free" with a course I'm taking and the other a friend is letting me use. I just want to know which is better in general and what the strengths/weaknesses of both are.

Well it's clear you are pirating. So try both.

if you're meaning sony movie studio and NOT sony vegas, then premiere

No I'm talking about Vegas

Sony vegas is p easy to use but the interface is stuff and so is keyframing

I used to be a Sony Vegas whizz, but nowadays I've converted to the dark side and just use After Effects.

So from what I'm getting from this thread the only advantage to using vegas over premier is that it's easier to use?

P much

AfterFX is better than vegas tough since I cant use premiere for stuff

vegas uses your gpu to render, while adobe is full on cpu.

it depends on your hardware... you pirate.

You have to activate cuda rendering in the settings tough and im not even sure opengl is supported

And as far as I know adobe uses gpu rendering
Nvm apperently you have to unlock it somehow

i know creative cloud stuff definitely has supports gpu acceleration with CUDA or openCL. i hadn't heard of this in vegas until now, but apparently it does too with openCL (and CUDA but only for older cards??).

i haven't used premiere extensively but the two are definitely comparable. i think i might prefer premiere, but vegas is just more accessible. if you get to choose between the two, i'd probably just figure out which one you find easier to work with. i imagine they can both do whatever it is you want to do. one thing i've found is that doing animation is slightly painful in vegas, though not impossible once you figure out the weird things. i'm pretty sure i had a much easier time with animation in premiere. not sure if this is because i've been missing something obvious in vegas all this time, but it could definitely be better.
