Author Topic: Why is this new show getting so popular?  (Read 6853 times)

I can understand you saying the shows are out of our demographic and that's why we're talking bad about them, but today's cartoons loving blow compared to 10 years ago. The content is noticeably different. Back then they were actually witty and creative. Now every time I see a cartoon there's none of that. It's basically a big competition to see who can come up eith the most stupidly random stuff. I guess thats the only way kids can interpret shows nowadays though due to their brains being fried from staring at tablet and tv screens 12 hours a day. Any type of subtle joke or indirect humor would probably go right over their heads due to severe lack of social interraction.

I wish Bunnicula wasn't as rare as a shooting star, it's visually appealing because it's by the creators of Billy & Mandy, it has Raphael from the 2014 TMNT CGI series as a cat and it's a generally amusing show to watch :(

That actually looks good. I used to love reading those books when I was a kid.

apparently dan avidan sings in the intro?

nice to see the lead singer of "Ninja love Party" with songs such as "6969" and "FYI I wanna F your A" be the first thing you hear when watching a kids cartoon

I'd have to listen to it again, but I'm pretty sure:
1. If the Game Grumps were seriously involved it would be funny (which it isn't)
2. They're working on Game-o-verse, which forgetin' Ross but it's way better than this stuff

Watching the animation I feel like I'm playing a game at 20fps

Those sword designs are worse than the cruddy adventurequest designs. Man, even user submitted trove weapons are better

he's right

On the topic of new CN shows, I actually like "We Bare Bears"

never thought I'd hear azula speak like that

i don't really understand why everyone on here always has a sob story about how cartoon network and nickelodeon are dying and how kids cartoons aren't what they used to be. they're KIDS cartoons, and while that doesn't mean you can't watch them, of course networks and producers are marketing it towards these hyperactive kids that grew up in the age of the smartphone and randum minecraft vids. isn't this forum composed of people ages 14 - 24 primarily? you guys are way out of these networks demographics and will clearly not like anything they make. sure, I would like to see better cartoons on TV, but if these studios are putting stuff out that I don't like, I just don't watch it, it's not made for my age.
i get whatchu mean and, yeah, we're not the target demographic
but still you can look ~10-15 years ago and there were shows that appealed to adults too, with clever jokes and innuendo thrown in, so the adult supervising their child wouldn't be bored out of their mind watching some garbage show. they weren't based on fads or relevancy so they aged better, too. in 20, 30 years, the people who grew up watching spongebob are going to go back to it again and again, but no one's going to find themselves watching this.

can we have a loving gamegrumps cartoon

I'm going to argue against this and say that it does matter.

As mentioned before:

Cartoon Network has more of the greatest cartoons ever than any other network. Looney Tunes, Samurai Jack, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans, Adventure Time, etc. etc. They should be (and are, in my opinion) held to the highest of standards, yet you have TTG, the new PPG, Johnny Test, and now this. All of it is just mindless fluff. And yeah, this kind of stuff existed in the past, but nowhere near the scale that it does now.

You can have "day shows". You can also have "day shows" that are well written, teach good morals and are smart in the way they do it. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Ed, Edd n' Eddy, and The Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy are all good examples of this. Kids are going to be watching this stuff, and they're still learning about the world around them. You can't just pretend that they're dumb and that they will lap up anything. That's no excuse for quality.

Notice how entertainment is the only medium that this argument about it "just being for kids" is brought up. Would you say that about food? Safety systems? You wouldn't. That's what we're asking for here: quality control. This guy explains it very, very well.

This cartoon's premise might the most forgettable in a while. Not even TTG and the new PPG match up to this kind of blandness. The jokes don't hit, the animation is cheap CG horsestuff, and the characters' personalities seem to not even exist. This is going to be the stalest cartoon in a very, very long time, at least in my opinion. What makes it insulting for me is the fact that the Game Grumps worked on it and it still sucks. To their credit, I don't believe, judging from the current footage, that they had any input into the creative design process for this show, but my point still stands that they made a horrible decision for where to use their talents.

Oh, and then there's this:

if shantae got a cartoon that'd be pretty gr8
