folder disappeared (and gone completely) after moving it

so i just bought doom but im copying the steam files from my friends pc because my internet is terrible. he put the files on my external hard drive and when i went to move them to the steam apps folder it said the folder couldnt be found. i refreshed the page and wtf the freaking folder is gone. it freaking still must be there because it took a huge chunk of my hard drive space left. i tried searching for it and nothing came up.

Same thing happened to me a couple months back but it was a program that deleted itself.

Were you copying from a RAM drive? If so, did your computer lose connection to the external drive in anyway?

RAM drives are volatile, so be very careful with your connections and make sure you don't power off when copying to or from one.

Also, try blowing the dust out of your USB slots with a can of compressed air.

all i was doing was moving it to a different folder

i should have rephrased. its not an external hard drive. its just a 1tb hard drive with nothing but games on it that i connected inside his pc and connected back into mine. we restarted our computers both before and after we unplugged it so it shouldnt have done anything i dont think
