i agree with the principle you're going by here, but people are skeptical because there's very clear incentive to falsely charging a highly unfavorable presidential candidate with a crime. but yes, it's really stuffty to dismiss someone claiming to have been raped because it's a serious crime, and if it did happen, then the perpetrator deserves punishment.
