3 new recent events have unfolded!
Suppression of Journalism
Niels has jailed a journalist for criticizing the government of the province, many see this as a rights issue and do not agree with it.
Protests
Protests against the jailing of a journalist, widespread corruption, and the new governor have formed. Police have been shooting down protesters to keep control of the situation.
Battle for Sovereignty
The northern part of Niels and the southern part of Niels don't agree on a lot of things, and the recent events have just made it even worse. Southern Niels does not support any of the actions of the current Niels government and wants to split from Northern Niels, and they're gaining power and influence fast.

James Elmer Ider

Suppression of Journalism

The current situation in Niels is shocking. The jailing of this Journalist is not acceptable. He has the right to speak against the wrong. For doing that, what happens? This innocent man was jailed for speaking HIS mind, and that can not- I repeat that can not happen. If it were not for brave Journalists that speak against the wrong and document it, the future will just repeat and they will know that they did wrong because there's documents of it happening before. They then feel ashamed knowing they did a wrong, and try to cover it up by just simply jailing this man.

Protests

This new Governor needs to take BETTER control of these protests. These killings of innocent people, is not acceptable. It horrifies me that it has come to this. The police and Government in Niels needs to be fixed. Purged possible of any corrupted relations. Finding those who are will be a challenge. --But, right now this not a issue to be looked at now but soon hopefully we will. -The protests and killing of citizens is the issue at hand right now. Instead of issuing Lethal weapons to police for peaceful protests, we need to issue Non-lethal equipment. This should fortunately reduce the "trigger-finger"adrenaline and also reduce the risking of lives. -When I was younger, I was in our Country's Armed Forces, and I know what it will be like if we don't control this soon. This will quickly turn into useless bloodshed and fighting. -- Also, to not completely risk our Officers lives, have Lethal weapons inside a Armored Truck near by peaceful protests in case that they turn into Lethal and uncontrollable riot of some sort.

Battle for Sovereignty

This Battle for Sovereignty needs to be dealt with. This is an issue that can't go without being talked about or thought through. What we need or what we should do is bring in a selected political Rep. from the south, and a Political Rep from the North, the current Governor, and have them meet the current president help negotiate plans. When or if this occurs, have them deal it out. Though, at this moment, I am not choosing a side. But, I will note this: I do not accept the corrupt government. The Jailing of the Journalist is uncalled for and he should be released. The Police needs to be woken up and taken control of before more lives are lost. These are issues that need to be solved now and not later.

3 new recent events have unfolded!

Tensions Grow
South Niels has taken control of a small chunk of Chase county, while the government has created a border zone on the North-South Niels border to prevent conflict from escalating. More and more counties take sides.
Breakdown
Riots in the streets and gunshots ringing all around Niels. This recent break-up has lead to economic, social, and political disaster of the likes of the Remington earthquake. Many terrorist organizations have taken a foothold in small towns as well.
Terrorist Attack
A bomb was detonated at an airport in South Niels in a town on the southern coast, killing 57 people. This dis-array has made many fear air travel and has hurt the travel business greatly.

James Elmer Ider

Tensions Grow

Despite what is going on, I am content that Niels is trying to handle the North-South conflict by creating a Border Zone. I hope that this will will help and make the tension slowly degrade.

Break Down

Due to this situation, I feel we need to issue our Military to help bring down these riots and so called "terrorist groups". If anyone has any information on these terror groups are or who, please report them to your nearest Police station. If nothing is done, this will become worse.

Terrorist Attacks

This is tragic. My prayers and condolences go out to the family that lost someone or know some how that was effected by this attack. I hope our current president will do something to quickly bring down these groups and control the situation in Niels. I hope in due time we can up our security in Airports, and we can safely recover our Air Transportation industry.

Suppression of Journalism
Freedom of journalism is a right, plain and simple. The ability to criticize and report about what your government is going is absolutely essential to democracy itself, and as president you can have my promise that the press will be free to report on what they wish.

Protests
As I've said, I completely understand the anger that many are feeling towards the new governor of Niels and the other events. Being able to protest is again, a right that cannot be alienated. The actions of the police, shooting down innocent people to try to keep the peace is appalling and will not be tolerated in my administration.

Tensions Grow/Battle for Sovereignty
I strongly believe in the democratic process. That means that if the people want something, they get that thing. Whether that be which president they get or something else entirely, like diving into north and south Niels. If I am elected I will officially let the people decide whether or not to split Niels.

Breakdown
I understand that opinions in Niels are thoroughly divided. However that is no reason to commit heinous crimes! That being said, what's going on is causing immense damage to the area, and we need international aid now more than ever, and on top of that, we need people from all around the country to help chip in and bring stability back to the region.

Terrorist Attack
I've been deeply saddened with all the events that have gone on in Niels... This is no exception at all. With the recent events in Niels, our law enforcement has been stretched thin. As a result of this, a terrorist managed to kill 57 people in a shocking event. As president I will be immediately beefing up law enforcement specifically in Niels to make sure that no more terrorist events happen. This will not negatively impact other areas, you have my promise.

Due to complications with the Niels split, all South Niels counties (reminder: still not a province) are disputed, they still count as a vote, but it is unknown their true opinion. Logan has been taking the lead in Remington due to his sympathy to them, but has taken losses in Saxon and Abner.
James came in 40% in the polls, while Logan came in 60%, stealing the win in Helena when James had the original lead.
A victory for James in a near landslide of 69%, with Logan only earning 31%.
The race for the nominee is neck and neck, with both James and Logan at 2 province wins with 3 left, both will have to work hard to influence the rest to vote for them.

Data
Logan has finally taken the lead in the polls by 2%, not much and James can still definitely come back, but it's a lead.
I've replaced province line graphs with a national pie chart, to display the winner more clearly.

I'd also like to formally announce my support for South Niels. While the borders need to be worked out better, they have my full support.

James Elmer Ider

I am formally and respectively dropping out. My best of luck to our party's other Rep. You will certainly have my vote when the time comes.

Logan Flynn has won the nomination for The People's Front!

Suppression of Journalism
When I heard about this, my heart sank. I knew the globalists, the NWO, all of them were coming and trying to spark the first flames, but I didn't realize they were already making the first hits. Folks, Tumultians, we need to get ourselves through this. This is a blatant suppression of the freedom for our speech, what our founding fathers cared for so dearly. And now they're beginning to rub, n' trying to scrub the conditioning through our skulls into our brains. Well we ain't havin' it! When I'm president, we're going to teach them what freedom really is! Fellow Tumultians, we need to stand side by side for our United Republic and show them what might and power the words 'Independence' and 'United Republic' really have!

Protests
In these times, it's sad to see fellow Tumultians killing each other out in the streets. We need unity, we need prosperity, we should not be killing each other out in the streets. We need to find a way to stop this and restore order, such as better training, and better funding to allow space for the purchase of non-lethal weaponry for law enforcing agencies nationwide.

Battle for Sovereignty/Tensions Grow
This conflict, while in the right mind, should not be happening. I know a majority of my supporters, they're kind folks, and they're living in the north end of Niels. There are people who are getting caught up in this, that never wanted to be involved. The populace of South Niels should use all their power to, in a democratic process, remove those they see unfit from their state government. I'm not going to be saying or denouncing any names, but it's a suggestion.

Breakdown
Another prime example of the need for a better funded police force, and the right to bear arms. These disorganized criminals and terrorists are making use of a weakened state, with under-equipped law enforcing agencies, to further their goals. It's likely many of these may be black flags, used to influence further chaos in this country, it wouldn't surprise me. Don't fall for their words, folks, take your arms and protect your nation when the terrorists and bad guys come for you and your families.

Terrorist Attack
First of all, let me say, my prayers and thoughts out to those who have been affected, and their families. Let's have a moment of silence, here, right quick.

With law enforcement, we also need a better equipped airport security agency. So many of these travesties could've been avoided if it weren't for the failure of previous politicians and corrupted governments holdin' their dollar bills behind their back. I'm tellin' you, this fundin' ain't just for law enforcement. Firefighters, paramedics, all of our day-to-day heroes are going to be tend to. Trust me, I'm not even trying to be political here, our emergency services need better attention, and that attention needs to be as soon as possible.

5 new recent events have unfolded!
Poor Leader
It's become increasingly clear our current president is not out for the people's interests, and people want him impeached. However, like what happened in Niels, that might not be the best idea currently.
South Niels
In a hasty decision to quell the breakdown of Niels, the province has been split in two officially, however some claim South Niels is a terrorist operation and the government is backing people who want to ruin our country.
Aftermath of the RDA
The RDA has still not been repealed, and it has had some lasting effects on our nation. Good news, it has stopped major terrorist plots from popping up in Remington and North/South Niels, bad news it's being used by government officials to spy on citizens and crack down on opposition, is this a necessary evil?
Foreign Aid
Other countries have noticed our situation and have offered foreign aid, however due to the split of South Niels and some countries thinking they are terrorists, some have retracted their offer. We cannot make everyone happy here, what do we need the most? The backing of the foreign countries or our own people?
Eyes on Remington
Many would say no news is good news, since the suppression of journalism has stopped much of what has happened in Remington these days from reaching public and causing panic, however information has come out that the situation, while not as bad as it could have been without the donations, is not good. The governor has decided to tax the rich to make up for all the losses, and companies have been steadily fleeing the province and even the country, increasing the loss of jobs, and the damage to the airline industry isn't helping one bit.

Poor Leader
The president thus far has been doing an absolutely terrible job at managing this country. As a result of this, many people seem to want him impeached. Now, were the election happening the day after that might be reasonable, but we still have a while to go until there will be a replacement in the presidents seat via the election. That means, were he to be impeached now, the country would be leaderless and extremely vulnerable to attacks and events which would only make things worse. I understand the desire to have him impeached but it's much better to just wait it out and let the next president sort out the problems. I firmly believe that president should be me, the one with the plan to actually fix the disasters the country is facing.

South Niels

Now, nobody really likes to hear about conflict. The world would be better off without conflict. But unfortunately, in Niels there has been quite a lot of conflict. This conflict has finally resulted in Niels being divided up. It seems there are a lot of people out there who don't like this, but what Niels did was not terrorism. They fought for their right to have a separate province, and they won. I sincerely wish that violence would not have been used, but what's done is done.

Aftermath of the RDA

I'm extremely pleased to hear that a terrorist attack has been stopped. Stopping terrorism is something that we should always be striving to do, but, as a country whose values I've admired for a long time has always said, "Freedom isn't free." What that means is that sometimes, in order to have the freedom to do as we wish, and to have the rights and liberties expected of a developed, mature country, we sometimes have to make small sacrifices. That sacrifice is the RDA. We cannot give up our essential rights and freedoms to stop what is an admittedly few attacks, when we have much better ways of stopping terrorism and a better way to end racism in employment that don't have all the downsides that RDA does.

Foreign Aid

First off, I'd like to say a huge, huge thank you to all the countries that have helped to support us in our dire time of need. Your great deeds have not gone unnoticed. Unfortunately though, as a result of the events in Niels, some countries have taken back their offers. While I understand the concern, South Niels is most definitely not terrorists. I will be personally working with the countries that have retracted their offers to try to negotiate some more foreign aid to help out the country.

Eyes on Remington

As we're all heard by now, Remington isn't in the greatest of places right now. The airline industry has crashed, and businesses are leaving because of higher tax rates. On the bright side, the suppression of journalism has stopped, which is fantastic news, and I'm extremely glad that it's stopped. The governor's plan to fix the problems however has more or less failed, with jobs being lost and certain companies leaving. While not totally devestating, by the time the election comes around this decision will need to be reversed, with taxes put back to their lower rate, and, ideally, taxes on small and local businesses being reduced to encourage local competition.
