How did I miss this gem? You do realize if it weren't for capitalism you wouldn't have the computer you used to type this right?
if it weren't for slavery america wouldn't be what it is today. obviously this means slavery is justified

this poll is such an awkward mixture of different views. most of them are government-related but then you just kinda threw feminism in there. democrat and republican aren't actual ideologies, either.

Yeah, but I don't see how that is relevant. That would probably only change the amount of african americans and things related to racism.

We'd be better off had we never brought the slaves over.

Yeah, but I don't see how that is relevant. That would probably only change the amount of african americans and things related to racism.
no, it'd probably also change a lot about the economic landscape at the time; free labor is nothing to sneeze at. that's one of the bigger reasons why slavery was something people wanted so badly, it was loving great if you were running a business that required lots of hard labor, and the output produced by slaves is absolutely historically relevant to any success the early american economy had. it's just a massive humanitarian concern and also terrible in every ethical way, and a brilliant reminder that what's best for businesses is not always best for everyone, which does kinda lend itself to more 'anti-capitalist' ideas.

You're probably right, but communism is about as far from best for everyone as you can get

The south is worse off economically than the north now. The civil war and reconstruction more than wiped away any advantage the south got from slavery. The only difference is they now have millions of uneducated angry blacks to deal with.

both extremes of capitalism and socialism/communism/whichever you're putting against it are terrible for everyone in the long run for one reason or another, the best solution is always a mixed market economy

the south was always worse off for a complex number of reasons, and reconstruction is one of them. also being from one of the poorest states in the south (alabama) i can tell you that we don't have an uneducated angry blacks problem, we have an uneducated angry everyone problem

You're probably right, but communism is about as far from best for everyone as you can get
communism and capitalism are not the only two options

communism and capitalism are not the only two options
America is a mixed economy

America is a mixed economy
yeah, well, not mixed enough, evidently
