Author Topic: Do you think that there is more than 2 genders?  (Read 10846 times)

whatever happened to tomboys? how is gender fluid some new concept? this stuff literally forgets with my mind

the way i look at it is that people are trying to categorize themselves by personality traits, which i disagree with

I'm sure at this point, we're all familiar with the modern hyper-offended/identity politics/SJW brain virus that is cutting a path through humanity.  There was a time when this virus was gestating exclusively within the furry population.  Children would create a fursona in an attempt to make themselves seem special - "oh I seem ordinary but I feel like a fancy animal inside".  When called out on this bullstuff, they would of course become angry - but this gave them a purpose.  There's nothing like the thrill of righteous indignation, of fighting for what you believe is your core being.

At some point, the persecution itself became the goal.  Furries would shoe-horn their degenerate aesthetic sense into every topic they could, specifically with the intent of provoking a reaction.  Most were doing this subconsciously, the primitive sectors of their brain driving them to feel the satisfaction of conflict and the imagined victory that followed.

At this point in time, I advocated for quarantine and extermination to contain the brain virus.  After all, how do you fight something whose goal is self righteous indignation and conflict?  It's very difficult to even explain the concept, let alone come up with an antidote.

This is a simplification of the entire scenario, of course.  There are many other factors involved in the evolution of this virus, the feminization of education and politics, media emphasis on the underdog, etc.  But here we are today and the virus is everywhere.  The concept of the 'progressive stack' - ordering people by their identity rather than their merit - is discussed as a valid idea.  'Academics' openly attack the concept of free speech.  Children as young as three are being brow-beaten into changing their gender.  The prime minister of canada openly admitted to choosing his cabinet members based on their genitals and received applause.  The infection spreads from students to the highest levels of government.

I'm not sure if the problem has left the furry community or if it is simply drowned out by the din of the wider world.  Either way, by today's standards furries are utterly harmless.

Please do not intentionally disrupt the furry thread.

I feel this is relevant. Very big similarities with this "gender is a social construct" cancer and what Badspot describes here.

too many labels

if people want to say "i identify as a demiwolfkin/genderfluid" then it's moderately irritating but i don't bother to tell them it's stupid

It being a 'social construct' is what gives in inherent meaning. Much like the reason why people call Frankenstein's monster Frakenstein himself, if consensus is to define gender as one thing, it is that thing regardless of your opinion unless you somehow get everyone to think of it the same way as you. This is how etymology works.
When I say say gender is a social construct, I don't mean that it's defined by social consensus. (in that sense, I could be using social construct wrong?) Gender is just your place on a spectrum of masculine to feminine behavior IMO. Your gender is socialized from what you see in the media / other people, your culture, your own personality, probably genetics, and how you are raised. Society and most parents heavily relate love with how you behave and that affects how growing children define themselves, which is why most people act the way people expect people of their love to act. (That, and love-linked hormones do change your behavior a lot, so love is sort of correlated with gender I guess)

This seems to be the most reasonable route to me, people will go well if we're going that far then society itself is a social construct and doesn't exist, and then that social construct about the social constru- you see how paradoxical of an argument that is, I'm fine with trans existing and all that because it's a legitimately reasonable way to distinct one another's gender, but forget SJW's and all their dumb bullstuff that comes along with it.

I'ma agree with Insert here, 4 genders seems to be right.
That's not paradoxical at all. It doesn't matter if society is a social construct, we're using "society" as a convenient way to talk about trends of behavior in our population. This argument makes no sense.

theres as many genders as there are barrels on a derringer

Nah, only two. If you view yourself as a gender that doesn't have a corresponding genital (males / snakees and females / vaginas) then I automatically assume you're a bit loose at least.

If you have/had a snake, you're a male. If you have/had a vagina, you're a female. You can make believe you're the opposite love if that's what you feel like, but anything other than m/f and you need to be shot.

there are 2 biological genders, male and female, then there is trans
nothing else

unrelated to the conversation in this thread, i would say yes just because to me at least, gender is different than biological love - gender is self-perception, but biological love is a trait that you're born with.

however, this doesn't mean that i think there's infinite genders - i just think that people can define themselves as they want to, but genders lie on a scale, in a sense.

for example, we'd have a scale like this:

male ----- bigender/agender ----- female

where characteristicaly gendered traits, whether more dominant or recessive, are present on the scale.
