Blockland Trailer Ideas - Let's look back

Currently, from What i've seen, there are two major Blockland Trailers, both made by Teneski.
Blockland - That game where you build stuff (Pre V21)
Blokcland Trailer 2013/2014

And While these both are great Trailers, they didn't do what they should have intended in the first place.

Let's look back.

In the first video It flashes by maps that you can play in game, and this showed off a feature that the game offered, which was many different playable maps, and that's great. An Advertisement should show all the features a game has to offer. Then around ten seconds in, we have a player spawn, then it shows a feature of the game that really should be advertised, in game customisation. Despite what you may think, not many games allow for that, and while they do exist, they aren't usually sandbox-like games, Now this also could have been done better with other aspects, that I will get into as we move along. So right after that, we see the player (in the same avatar, continuity error?) traverse the other maps, and then end back at Bedroom, building his first house. Now this is where we should have a scene where the user discovers the build menu (and then in the four corners have different scenes of him choosing bricks.). Now after this it shows the player driving around in a vehicle, and then it shows off the wrench and by extension, eventing. But eventing should have lead to the jeep being spawned (and then the rocket thereafter, which shows of Blockland Physics.). Then the sweet building montage of one of the default city builds happens, which is cool. Then we have a montage of default and player-made builds, servers and then the final transition. But before the montage started three things should have happened, you have more players join, like you did earlier with the initial player, introducing multiplayer. Then after that you do a menu montage of mini-games, and show the players destroying the city, and transition between other builds and other activities. And if we updated this, replace all the maps with environment changes, along with other default and user-made minigames and servers.

As for the second video, I actually don't have a whole lot to say.

While it does fix some issues I had with the first one, it also breaks some of the good things it did before, like showing off avatar options. other than that, it wasn't better in terms of design, but the editing was fantastic.

Also, a bit of a side note, a bit of a change in music direction may be good, like start off with After School Special playing and then transition into something else. (preferably not the same type of music either.)

Also it would be great if these advertisement videos, would actually show up as advertisements. Funny thing is, I actually found out about blockland through one of the old Youtube corner ads.

Can't argue with the inclusion of one of my spacships on both tho 10/10 decision making
But yeah a combination of the building of the first and gameplay of the second would be great.

A newer player to Blockland might think the game was completely different from what it was when viewing the second trailer. You get about 10 seconds of building, a couple of flashy events and then it takes a turn for an adventurous type of game? The second point is demonstrating what you can do with what you build, but for someone who doesn't know the general aspect of Blockland, it makes it seem more like a party-ish game. (I mean in hindsight, it really is a sandbox/party-esque game) It's comparable to what happened with No Man's Sky in the general sense that people formed their own expectations of what it was going to be, and were extremely disappointing with the game on release.

An updated version of trailer 2 with more emphasis on building/creating would do the game some justice in my opinion.

How do you make building look fun and exciting though?

if we're making a new trailer count me in
we should show the following IMO:
multiplayer, we gotta round up 100+ players or multiclient the #### out of a server
bots and bot eventing/minigames
creative things like rube goldberg contraptions in motion
many, many interesting modes in time-lapse (board games, CTF, etc.)
a great big build being built in time-lapse by multiple people, one the size of ACM City, with day/night cycle for added effect
explosions and "BLOCKLAND: THE GAME WHERE YOU BUILD STUFF" because filipe is cool

the thing is its hard to market what bl is best at: interactive chat room with the occasional DM/gamemode

and even if people like interactive chat rooms where you can be creative and talk about stuff, you'd have to be okay with this games' community in order to actually enjoy the chatting part.

Blockland has the best building system I've ever seen. Blockland also has. The best modification (add-on) system I've ever seen. The way the addons are organised makes it obvious to moddera this could be a god game to make mods for. Its a shame we lost maps, but no amount of the community telling the dev they don't like it will change it, I mean just look at TF2.

I'm looking for audio on newgrounds we could use if we were to make a new one. I found this but it's a bit long...
Does a fan-made trailer count as "commercial"?

not sure how this relates to my post, but okay.

and we can't revert back to maps without nullifying all the updates that happened since maps. that is an extremely bad idea, and impossible to do at this stage. recoding the updates since shaders to work with maps would take massive amounts of time for potentially no gain. its just not worth the time, no matter how many people complain. and it does make the game look worse - notice how beautiful pictures have become with shaders and reshade that really make builds look great, even if not everyone can run it.

but yeah, blockland is great for modding/learning how to mod, even if the engine is pretty stuffty. that would be a selling point if there was a huge playerbase to mod for. most modders these days mod for themselves.

Eksi made both as a fan, though got paid for the second one. if anything, more videos about Blockland and how gameplay/being on servers is fun is itself advertising the game.
