Author Topic: Washington State Gambling Commision orders Valve to stop the CS:GO skin gambling  (Read 1906 times)

Why is it Valve's responsibility if they don't run the gambling sites?
bc the crate/key system is still gambling in itself

call it whatever you want but regardless you can't deny that crates are a horizontal slot machine, as they not only look the same but function the same too.

I for one seriously hope WSGM sends a cease and desist because I for one am loving done with CS:GO and it's bullstuff system, VNN brought up a very good point that it should rather be that skins have a flat rate and you can buy them however you please, but seriously Valve's been pretty stuff lately (besides the Vive) regarding their business practices, hopefully this makes everyone in the CS:GO department roll their desks back over to HL3/L4D3/The Vive.

it's not illegal to gamble in washington right
No, and I think the age is actually 18 there iirc
However online gambling is illegal in washington.

However online gambling is illegal in washington.

ohhh that makes sense

What do you not get about betting skins?
Why people do it. They're just cosmetics, as far as I know, used as nothing more than a status symbol.

Look at those starfishs making money, loving TAX EM. MAKE EM STOP.

...cosmetics that sell a fortune

still a status symbol though

...no stuff? i never denied it isn't

they gamble these skins for money and profit because of the rarity involved in it, and some keep it for, like you say, "status symbols"

I have like 4200 in wallet money in skins and I have it in skins just for the sake of having wallet money that physically looks cool.  Anways, CSGO gambling is really stupid because all of it is rigged to make the owners of the site win and you lose.  Please see here for reference: http://www.dailydot.com/esports/csgo-gambling-scandal-explained/

Honestly, im glad it is going away

Gotta love the sponsorship on the video of what makes gambling sites a bad problem: Skin Sites.

Converting skins into real cash seems like a good idea at first until you realize that gambling sites give you skins. It is literally online gambling.

And even worse is the fact that valve may be affiliated with the gambling sites in a way. Steam community trading takes a portion of the sale money when items are sold there. Why would they not cash in on that? Skin sites are actually the bane of valve.

Oh and valve has a backup plan for when the CS:GO gambling sites are taken down. It is called TF2. The weapon skins act almost the same way CS:GO skins work.

...cosmetics that sell a fortune
But why do they cost so much
They literally do nothing but make your E-richard feel bigger for having a purdy gun

it's because of the drop rate of rare guns and the influx of the steam com market.

still pretty loving stupid tho

Huh. Not sure if that's madness or brilliance

Huh. Not sure if that's madness or brilliance
neither, it's called exploitation, like seriously, what instance of CS:GO Crates/Skins/Gambling Sites have never had the aspect of exploitation lol
