"Larry Jefferson is one of five Santa's greeting kids this season at the nation's largest mall."

"Santa Experience co-owner Landon Luther told the Tribune the move to hire a black Santa was a long time coming.

“We want Santa to be for everyone, period,” Luther told the Tribune."

"Jefferson is a retired U.S. Army veteran from Texas. He signed a four-day contract to work in Minneapolis, and will return to Texas to finish the holiday circuit, the Tribune reported.

Jefferson told WCCO-TV that children of different races are always excited to see him.

“It gives them something to identify with, but Santa is still just Santa,” Jefferson told the station."

“We want Santa to be for everyone, period,”

Only have some white and a black santa.

can we just agree that interchanging races for characters that have been portrayed only as one race is stupid

every kid who sees this guy knows he's not Santa

I guess the HO HO HO part makes sense now amirite?

guys hate to break it to you
but santa isn't real

it's actually the lord of skeletons, bone the third who delivers your gifts every festivus.

Like, I get it
But Santa Claus, as we portray him, anyway, is white

I mean santa could've been black. Jesus was black so why not santa?

fair enough but i think this might be their way of saying they're gonna try diversifying their santas now

'santa claus' has been a tradition in many different cultures and has been portrayed with many different races

also he's fake so it doesn't actually matter if we change how we portray him every once in a while. like we have a lot of flexibility since his existence is sustained 100% on how our culture decides they want to portray him.

i thought he was middle-eastern

If a kid sees any picture of Santa and then goes to see this Santa, he's going to question his existence.
