again, star wars has a deliberately crafted canon, but santa is not originating from any one creator with a vision. santa isn't a character. santa is a broad, malleable concept meant to convey literally nothing else but the spirit of giving during christmas. it feels more comfortable to give him a specific, human tangibility, though it is still incredibly loose. you could replace santa with a dog, and it would mean nothing. it would still convey the same thing. (personally i think dog santa would be better though)

fair enough, a species jump wouldn't really be believable. allowing the race to be different in a couple of instances will change nothing, though. especially in mall santas.

and i mean hey if you wanna break even with this, i think that worst case scenario is some kids will see it and brush it off as "not the real santa," but it will be relatable and possibly comforting to black children. nobody is negatively affected.
