Author Topic: Thalassophobia (Scary Ocean) Thread - Keepin' it Real (Scary)  (Read 4233 times)

Haywold made a thread about how beautiful space is, and while searching for things to put into it I came across some videos on weird and scary stuff in the ocean. So on that note, please post the polar opposite (kinda) of what we were in the Space Thread

ONLY RULE: Keep it realistic. There are way too many pictures of Cthulhu to pull from. Yes, you can go prehistoric.

Starting off:

deep sea Hatchetfish

hole in the ocean floor

just a lot of loving NOPE

I better find a Starbucks cause I hate it when something about me gets super popular. I've had this stuff super strong (and talked about it a lot) for like 10 years, but now I see it all over Reddit. I also hate it when I love a channel with just a few thousand subscribers, before it goes massively viral. I Kurzgesagt was my favorite channel on Youtube when it had about 5-10 thousand subscribers but now that it's in the millions I just don't enjoy it as much. Yes, I realize this is the most hipster post ever.

its also badly worded you need english lessons

^ That post was written via autocorrect in the rain. Sorry, I fixed the grammar, but I think there were just like 4 minor grammar errors so, uh, still seemed pretty understandable.

Basically McZealot is saying that he hates it when small quirky things he likes or identifies with becomes popular not because they're popular, but because on the internet, popularity brings dilution of content.

but because on the internet, popularity brings dilution of content.
Not necessarily, but I think popularity has been very bad for some channels (Game Theory, Kurzgesagt) because they start working professionally and as such have to pander, but for the most part its just that something doesn't feel special when everyone is doing it.

The Starbucks joke was because hipsters say "I did X before it was cool." in case anyone didn't catch that.

Game theory was always goofy and a niche channel, it's the audience who don't realize it's purely for the sake exploring a game's lore and the science behind it than an actual research paper that proves sans is actually ness from freakin earthbound or whatever people insist is actually fact and not a, gasp, theory.
