Installing Map Editor Tutorial (WIN XP/VISTA)

I am sorry if this is already made, I am sure it is. But I will be telling people how to do this in Windows XP OR Windows Vista.

THIS DOES NOT TELL YOU HOW TO USE IT! I am still figuring out that part LOL!

First off, you need to go to the main Blockland page and go to downloads, then download the mission editor. If you have WinZip, you can't extract it. You can either download WinRAR (not reccomended) or you can download 7-Zip. I reccomend 7-Zip because it excrats .zip and .rar files. Just google it to download it (I don't have link sorry)

FOR WINDOWS XP
Once you have downloaded it, extract it to your Blockland folder, in this directory: C:\Program Files\Blockland\

When you open that folder you should see editor as a folder in there.

Now go to the MOST COMMONLY USED Blockland Shortcut. If you don't then it won't work on all of the shortcuts.

1: Right click on your Blockland shortcut
2: Find the Target field.
3: The Target should say something like this:  "C:\Program Files\Blockland\Blockland.exe"
4: Add the -mod editor command to the end of it, NOTICE SPACES AND ALL CHARACTERS.
5: The Target should look like this: "C:\Program Files\Blockland\Blockland.exe" -mod editor

6: Hit apply, then hit OK. Make sure you use this shortcut if you want to edit your map. Press F11 in game to go to the editor. Press ESC to exit it. Press F10 to open the GUI editor (Don't know what that does yet)

FOR WINDOWS VISTA
This way isn't too different than XP, but most Vista computers need your permission to put things into important folders (Like the Blockland one) For my Vista (Vista home premium) it won't let me just extract it, I have to drag and drop it into the folder.

Once mission editor is downloaded, extract it to a folder or your desktop that can easily be found. Open the mission editor folder, and you should see the "editor" folder in that folder.

Go to Start>Computer>C:>Program Files>Blockland and place that "editor" folder into the main blockland folder. When you look at JUST the blockland folder, it should have the editor folder in it.

7: FOR VISTA USERS ONLY: Make sure you do NOT right click and "Run as administrator" for it. For some reason, that takes out the editor and you will not be able to use it. Just run it without right clicking (Unless it's right click open, of course)

I hope this helped people. Again I have NO idea how to use it yet. When I figure it out, then I may post it up here. If anyone can post a guide then that would be great. Happy mape making!

We have to many of that topics!

Badspot once said, if you cannot work this out you shouldn't be using this. Or some thing along those lines but same meaning, think about it.

I also say to HIM that 8 year olds play this game, and yes they do. Not as much as other people but they do. And some people ALSO have no freaking idea how to work a computer, so if he isn't going to help people when he has over (whatever the heck 4020 times 20 is minus a few hundred because of stupid piraters) dollars, he should help the people who bought his game.

Does EA help modders make there mods? No. Does any game company help modders make mods for there games? No. They give them the tools then its up to them to work it out and do it them selfs.

If you notice, EA has millions and millions of customers. Not 4000. I can see WHY they don't help their modders.

Blockland has 4000, and typing in a few words in a text document making it .4 bytes bigger doesn't take too much to help other people.

Halo: Custom Edition, Halomods.org or whatever, when you get their map editor, someone actually took the time to make multiple videos on how to use it. Why can't other people help hm?

This is like giving a blind man glasses.

The majority of Blockland is teens and younger, these a good reason why I don't want people helping other work out the mission editor because we get crap on the forums with fail maps and people loving up there original maps.

And you really think they all know how to put their map in a folder so other people can download it? You REALLY think that? Wow.

If they don't then they shouldn't be making maps.
Also, you cannot pirate a copy of Blockland.

What does the pirate part half to do with anything? I didn't pirate a copy of blockland. I payed cold cash for this game.

And if they don't know how to put it in the folder why do we have to worry?

And I no longer understand your stance on the argument.

Actually is 3900 because the ID's start at 100 :P
