That's a teeny-bit misleading. The article says that Netanyahu is calling to 'weaken diplomatic relations', not 'suspend relations'. Quoting the article:

The order to cut diplomatic ties has little real-world impact since it doesn't affect trade or military cooperation. Instead, it acts as a political statement.

Israel cannot afford to cut relations with China. They're one of Israel's strongest trading partners.

The story is really complicated though. The original borders of Israel were far more equitably divided, but they changed when basically all of Israel's neighbors decided to team up and try to destroy Israel. If that hadn't happened, Palestine would still represent 48% of the original territory.

Even after the Six-Day War, Israel is still guilty of corroding Palestinian land by building illegal settlements, but peace is hampered by the fact that Palestine is jointly controlled by what's essentially two separate terrorist groups.

Most people^{[citation needed]} are cool with the idea of a two-state solution, Netanyahu included, but the logistics are complicated by the fact that neither party wants to agree to anything.
